Officials from the Eugene School District 4J have confirmed that a teacher from North Eugene High School was one of the people who passed away as a result of a catastrophic car accident that occurred early on Tuesday morning on Northwest Expressway.
The director of digital communications for 4J, Kris Seibel, stated that the accident resulted in the death of art instructor Amy Samson, who was employed at North Eugene High School.
In a series of emails that were sent to families of North Eugene High School and Eugene 4J District on Tuesday evening, the Principal of NEHS, Nain Muñoz, expressed that they are “heartbroken” by the loss of Samson.
Since the year 2022, Ms. Samson has been an extraordinarily important member of our North family. Prior to joining our team, she was employed at Arts and Technology Academy (ATA) from 2015 until 2022, where she taught both art and language arts. According to Muñoz, who stated in an email that some of you might be aware of it, she started her teaching career in the Eugene School District right here at North in the year 1999.
After that, he went on to explain that she will be remembered for being an enthusiastic and creative art instructor who had just recently been given a grant for her pottery class. She participated in a variety of other community activities, one of which was as a member of the Willamette Pass Ski Patrol Youth department.
